Gaskins, and a subsidiary of our affiliated law firm, LLOYD MARTIN PLC, a Virginia professional limited liability company, owned by Lloyd A. Martin, II, Esq. Joan and Lloyd are wife and husband. Joan and Lloyd have been in the real estate settlement and related businesses in Northern Virginia for over three decades, handling residential and commercial transactions in Virginia and all across the United States. Who is covered?
We provide our Privacy Policy notice to each client or customer when we open a case file for a scheduled real estate closing, or any other matter, in which the client or customer will be a party. Generally, this means that the Privacy Policy notice is provided to the client or customer with an information package in advance of the settlement or other transaction. We may also provide the notice at closing of the real estate transaction involving the client or customer.
Information collected
In the normal course of business and to provide the necessary services to our clients and customers, we may obtain nonpublic personal information directly from the client or customer, from client/customer-related transactions, or from third parties such as real estate brokers or agents, lenders, appraisers, surveyors or other similar entities.
Access to information
Access to all nonpublic personal information is limited to those employees who have a need to know in order to perform their jobs. These employees include, our processing personnel, settlement officers and title insurance agents.
Information sharing
Generally, we do not share nonpublic personal information that we collect with anyone other than those parties and entities necessary to complete the services we provide. We do not share nonpublic personal information with any other entities for marketing purposes and we have no joint marketing agreements for sharing of nonpublic personal information; however, we may share information as required by law in response to a subpoena, to a government regulatory agency or to prevent fraud.
Information security
At all times, we strive to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the personal information in our possession, and we have instituted measures to guard against its unauthorized access. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in compliance with federal standards to protect that information.
